The day was October 13th, the Tuesday after a four day weekend. Everyone seemed too tired for a day at school. Chloe sat on the floor in the hall ready to be interviewed by her classmate Alyssa. Alyssa got out her iPod to record the interview. They smiled at each other before beginning.
What are your plans after high school?I know that I want to go to college. I don’t know where, I don't know what for. I’m going to apply to like 10 colleges to see which one gives me the most money so that I can be financially set.
Do you plan to stay in New England? Move Far?I do plan on staying in New England. Ideally, I would like to stay between two and seven hours away, so it is a reasonable driving distance away but not so close that my parents can barge in whenever they please.

What are some things you’ve enjoyed about your time here at Lin-Wood?
I would have to say the teachers have been a big reason why I enjoyed my time at Lin-Wood. So many of the teachers have a true passion for what they are teaching, they inspire students to try their hardest.
Who is one of these teachers and how have they inspired you, in what way?
I have to say Mrs. Krill. I joined girls of summer when I was going into sixth grade which is program that she runs. I have always admired Mrs. Krill and looked to her for guidance. I believe she saw something in me, and that is why I was requested to be in her homeroom. I know I can go to her for advice, and I really value her opinion. And last year when we had no classes together, she would make sure we got a chance to check in every once in while. She was also the person who pushed me to apply for PAC, I had always been interested, but she gave me the push I needed to apply, and with luck I was accepted.
What are some regrets you have? Academic?
I wish I had stayed as driven as I was as a freshman. That was the year I cared about my school work and made sure I got every assignment done and done well. With each passing year, my drive in school got worse and worse. I went from an A student to a B+/A- student to a solid B student, causing my GPA to drop drastically from what my goal was freshman year. I still do not have the worst grades but I really wish I had done more homework.
Social regrets?
Yeah, I wish that I had tried to make friends with kids my age or younger than making friends with kids who are older because now I’m a senior, and I have only like two friends and those are my sister, Lucy, and her friend.
How could you have been more involved? In the school community or the community outside of school?
I wish I could have stuck with all of the clubs I planned on joining as a freshman. I attempted to be in four clubs. This is not realistic for someone who had a really really hard time making it to any 7:15 meetings, now imagine 4 of those a week. I am really embarrassed about that. Its really lame but its life so Ill own up to it.
Was there any class or program you wish Lin-Wood offered?Well, I wish I had gotten the chance to take the conceptual physics that Mrs. Parent was teaching last year. I really like physics, so it would have been cool to take that class.
What is your success story? Something you are most proud of…Probably getting into the PAC program. Preadaptive Coach. It was kind of a big deal to me because I applied for one of the five spots that were available, and there were about 30 kids applying and I got in. I was pretty happy.

What advice do you have for any younger Lin-Wood high school student?
Care about everything that you do. Take pride in your work. Think twice before you make any drastic or dangerous decisions. You will always get caught, and if you do the best way to deal with it is honesty. Always do things in a way that you know you’ll be proud of.
What will you miss when you leave home or just leave Lin-Wood?
I see my dad, my brother and my sister in school every day. If I ever have a hard day I know I can talk to them. Imagining not seeing them every day is going to be hard. I have a great support system that has helped to prepare me for college, but not having them physically with me. They are what I will miss the most.
Do you have any advice for Devon?
Try to stay out of trouble, keep yourself out of the wrong crowd and you will be all set.
