In my eyes, a great basketball team has heart. It's something every team should have in order to walk on the court. The court they stand by and represent. Each individual on the team needs to have their eyes on the same goal, whether it’s listening to coach, to win, to just get out there and play as long as the team is able to do that, nothing is stopping them. Everybody needs to know what their duty is on the court on defense or offense, even coming off the bench. Each team needs a bench ready to play, not to just be there. They are gonna earn every last minute they deserve in and out of practice. A team needs dedication outside of the court as well to get better if they want to not only play more or to start to help make that improvement towards a so called “good” basketball team. Every player on that team needs to have heart in order to succeed.
As for the coaches this year, we have three. They are: Mike Reardon, Shawn Quinn, and Max Dovholuk. These coaches all know us very well, so it gives them a better understanding of us from the start. They can see how we function to get us in the positions we need to be and to keep us on track. Individually, they have many skill sets any very different mind sets. Such as Coach Reardon, he has a very simple minded coach he looks at basketball at more of an analytic side. He views the court and adjusts us off of plays the other team runs on us or when we're not running our defense. He loves defense but when he see’s his team attack he just lets us go. That brings me to Max, he was a player at Lin-wood he started helping out this summer season. Max is the attacking guard he liked to get to the basket, shoot the ball he likes scoring you name it that's Max’s goal is to get us to score. Now brings me to our coach and guidance counselor Shawn Quinn. He started new as of this year so I don’t specifically know what our coach Quinn brings to the table. Besides the fact that he played at a huge Division 1 school and played with a former colleague and now NBA star center for the Atlanta Hawks Al Horford is a big deal. So I think Quinn has a few ideas on how we can Improve this team this season. Overall, I feel that this team will succeed going into their season.
