After 10 minutes of following him in the halls of Lin-Wood Public School, as he is figuring out where to be interviewed, Devon finally pulls up a chair in Mrs. Whitcher’s class, the starting location of the chase, where you can feel the look of disappointment radiate from Mrs. Whitcher. Then after a few words exchanged with the annoyed teacher, he gets comfortable as he accepts the fact that he is being glared at.
So Devon what are your plans after high school?“I plan to go to White Mountain Community College for nursing. It’s something that’ll be new and fun and also classes for nursing partially coincide with those for becoming an athletic director, which is my fall back in case nursing doesn’t go well.”
What have you enjoyed about your time here at Lin-Wood?“I have enjoyed a bunch of things at Lin-Wood, but the thing that sticks out the most is basketball.”

Do you have any regrets throughout high school?
“I regret not graduating from Charter. I thought coming back would be much easier, but I still had a big workload to overcome.
Do you plan to stay in New England or move far away?
“I want to move far away to somewhere like Chicago. I want the big city life especially in a city that is passionate about basketball.”
Is there a program that you wish Lin-Wood offered?
“I wish this school had track and field. I really like most of the events in track and field, and it would’ve been a great experience.”
What were some of your proudest accomplishments?
“Honestly, being a Lumberjack basketball player has to be it. I just love being on the court, and it’s been a lot of fun with the school.”
Do you have any advice for younger students?
“Yes, don’t procrastinate and respect authority. Also keep to yourself because there is no need to be poking into other people’s business.”
What are you going to miss the most about Lin-Wood?
“I’m going to miss seeing all the friends I have made here at Lin-Wood everyday. They are a big motivator in my life, and without them there in the first place, I didn’t see myself staying here as long as I did. If all my friends stayed in a kind of concentrated area, I might stay there instead of moving far away.”
